Zeiss Technology
At the Optical Laboratory Association meeting, Carl Zeiss Optical presented two new technologies : the Zeiss Freeform Surfacing System and the Zeiss ICE 390 anti-reflective (AR) coating system.
The Zeiss Freeform Surfacing System is designed to produce progressive surfaces onsite in labs. It consists of the HSC100 ready-to-polish Freeform Generator, the CCP100 Freeform Polisher and the Zeiss LSU248 laser engraver. This System lets your lab produce Gradal Top semi-finished lenses in various materials, as well as Gradal Individual, the Zeiss progressive lens that will be released early this year.
The Zeiss ICE 390, a "plug-and-play" AR coating system, is for smaller wholesale labs. The ICE 390 consists of a small washing unit, a working area, a hydrophobic-coating chamber, an AR chamber that produces 14 lenses per hour and flowbooths and enclosures to eliminate the need for costly facility build-outs. The ICE 390 produces such Zeiss coatings as Super ET, Gold ET and Cool Blue.
Both the ICE 390 and the Freeform Surfacing System will hit the market this spring.
