Ocular vitamins

■ Fortifeye Complete, from Fortifeye, is a blend of vitamins, such as D, minerals, such as zinc, and phytonutrients, such as lutein and zeaxanthin. It also contains enzymes, such as lycopene, whole foods, such as bilberry fruit extract, and Omega-3 essential fatty acids. The formulation may inhibit the growth of "bad" blood vessels (anti-vascular endothelial growth factor), replenish the macula pigment density, filter out blue light and neutralize free radicals, the company says.

Fortifeye Complete may replenish macula pigment density.

Fortifeye Macular Defense and Fortifeye Dry Eye Therapy are other available formulations.

• Basics Eye Guide. This sheet of paper acts as a reference for staff, so they can educate patients on the Polycore lens styles and materials.

OCT System

■ The Cirrus high-definition (HD)-optical coherence tomographer (OCT), from Carl Zeiss Meditec, Inc., features 3-D layer maps to facilitate your detection of sub-foveal lesions and drusen, view the inner limiting membrane (ILM) and retinal thickness in a cross-sectional display. Also, the device isolates the retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) and ILM layers, enabling the detection of subtle pathology, Carl Zeiss Meditec says.

Finally, the instrument simultaneously captures the line scanning ophthalmoscope fundus image and OCT data, so you can see the correlation between the two.

HRT software expansion

■ The Heidelberg Retinal Tomograph (HRT) Glaucoma Module Premium Edition software, version 3.1, from Heidelberg Engineering, features updates to the software's Topographic Change Analysis (TCA), so you can quickly access data on glaucomatous progression via one report. It also includes updates on the existing screen displays, stereometric parameters and data management.

The company is providing a free-of-charge update to practitioners who currently employ version 3.0.

Fendi frames

■ The Fendi styles F727 and FS485R are frames for women, from Marchon. Optical style F727 has a rounded-rectangle shape. It features the Fendi double "F" logo on its end pieces and a metal front with zyl-plastic temples. It's available in colors dark gunmetal (dark grey), shiny palladium (shiny silver), chocolate, mauve and bronze.

Style F727 and FS485R both feature the Fendi double "F" logo.

Sun style FS485R is made of zyl and has a rounded-rectangle shape. It features the Fendi double "F" logo in rhinestones on its temples and is available in colors brown, white, ruby and black.
