Multifocal contact lens
■ Unilens Vision’s C-Vue ADDvantage Multifocal for Presbyopia contact lens in silicone hydrogel material is a monthly disposable contact lens that incorporates the company’s new multifocal contact lens design technology, which allows for ease of fit by providing a consistent near ADD power (from +6.00 to -10.00) across all power profiles, resulting in clear vision for presbyopes at all distances, the company says. The new design is thin and features rounded edges for wearer comfort.

Macular integrity assessment
■ CenterVue’s next-generation Macular Integrity Assessment (MAIA) tool uses scanning laser ophthalmoscopy confocal microperimetry to detect, describe and follow-up pathologies affecting the macular area, including those that represent the leading causes of blindness. MAIA is intended for measuring macular sensitivity, fixation stability and the focus of the fixation, and provides infrared retinal imaging, company representatives note. It contains a reference database that is a quantitative tool for the comparison of macular sensitivity to a database of known normal subjects.

Anti-fog lens, cloth
■ This month, Essilor of America launches a new and improved Optifog lens and Activator Cloth. The updated Optifog lens features a unique top layer containing fogrepellent properties on both the front and back sides, which helps to reduce foggy lenses during various activities, including outdoor exercise and cooking over a hot stove, as well as working environments where precision and safety are critical, note company representatives. The anti-fog properties are activated by wiping the lenses daily with the new Optifog Activator Cloth.
The lenses are available in two options: TD2 Optifog lenses, which resist scratches and protect against fog; and Crizal Optifog lenses, which offer UV protection on the front and back sides of the lens, reduce glare, resist scratches and repel dirt and protect against fog.
