Brian Banks, founder and president of Natural Ophthalmics, passed away peacefully, on Dec. 2, after a brief, but serious, illness.
BEGINNINGS
Mr. Banks began his career in industrial lighting sales, which brought him into contact with many businesses. One such business was the U.S. sales office of a major Swiss homeopathic producer.
INSPIRATION
During his time in working with this Swiss homeopathic producer, Mr. Banks was also a volunteer firefighter. After a house-fire training session at which his eyes became red and inflamed, he reached out to the homeopathic company to see whether he could try their eye drops. Not only did the eye drops help his situation, but because of his enthusiasm, the company offered him a job as U.S. sales representative.
Mr. Banks worked there until 2000, at which time he felt there was a need for a wider range of natural eye care products. Inspired, he started Natural Ophthalmics with the mission of providing high-quality eye drops and eye-health supplements to ECPs sold directly to patients.
To accomplish this, he put together a team of respected optometrists, ophthalmologists and homeopathic physicians to develop the products.
FRUITION
Natural Ophthalmics’ products address a range of symptoms, including tear stimulation and allergy desensitization, to name a few.
The company’s customers include optometrists, ophthalmologists, homeopathic physicians, naturopathic physicians, chiropractors, oriental medicine practitioners and veterinarians.
CONTINUING THE LEGACY
Despite his passing, Natural Ophthalmics says the company continues to thrive and will continue to grow under the dedicated and solid management team created by Mr. Banks over the years. Natural Ophthalmics says these individuals reflect the values that Mr. Banks embodied: kindness, compassion and the desire to help alleviate suffering.
Natural Ophthalmics was his dream and now it is his legacy, the company says. He will truly be missed.
Mr. Banks is survived by two children and a diverse group of family and friends whose lives he touched, and who miss him greatly, the company says. OM
