OPTOMETRIST LAUNCHES O.D. JOB SITE WITH COVID-19 IN MIND
When optometrist Danielle Feder, O.D., was furloughed from her part-time jobs with optometry practices in New York City and went into quarantine, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she came up with the idea to create a job site for O.D.s and employers to find and hire, respectively, for daily jobs. Called DailyDoc (dailydoc.net ), the site, which launched on Aug. 18, currently caters to New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
“A major benefit of Daily Doc is that it allows optometrists to customize their work commitments to satisfy their desired personal schedule. In turn, employers can use Daily Doc to hire doctors on an as-needed basis to meet their patient demand,” Dr. Feder explained to the SUNY College of Optometry, from where she graduated in 2017.
Dr. Feder also works part time for her father, Mark, the founder/chairman of IDOC, in Connecticut, who says he lent a hand in making her idea a reality. OM
