The Global Specialty Lens Symposium (GSLS) was held in Las Vegas from Jan. 19 to Jan. 22, re-turning to an in-person venue after being held virtually in 2021. Presented by Contact Lens Spectrum, which is also published by PentaVision, GSLS focuses on the successful management of ocular conditions using today’s specialty contact lenses.
HIGHLIGHTS FROM THIS YEAR
“We were tremendously excited to be back in person in Las Vegas for the 2022 GSLS,” said Jason Nichols, OD, PhD, executive chair of GSLS’ education committee. “This year’s meeting had four clinical workshops, more than 20 CE breakout sessions, and, of course, our cutting-edge general sessions that each included the hottest topics in contact lenses this year. In addition, our speakers are the world’s clinical experts and rank amongst the top in their field.”
This year’s general sessions included “Myopia Control: Treatment Showdown 2.0” and “What’s Special About Specialty Contact Lenses,” held on Jan. 20; “Specialty Lens Practice in Motion” and “Safety and Contact Lens Compliance,” held on Jan. 21; and “Irregular Cornea Management in 2022” and “Scleral Lens Super Session,” held on Jan. 22.
In addition to Dr. Nichols, the education committee includes: Karen DeLoss, OD, vice chair; Edward Bennett, OD, MSEd; Patrick Caroline, COT; Lynette Johns, OD; and Eef van der Worp, BOptom, PhD.
