Topcon Healthcare, announced the launch of NW500, a robotic fundus camera that delivers sharp-quality imaging, even in ambient light. The camera offers slit scan illumination and a rolling shutter mechanism, which help to overcome one of the known causes of poorly graded images, effectively imaging smaller pupils, from 2.0 mm or more. A 12-megapixel sensor delivers color fundus images for review and analysis. The NW500 offers the ability to acquire retinal images in a lighted setting without the need to dilate patients, Topcon Healthcare says.

DIGITAL THERAPY FOR AMBLYOPIA
NovaSight announced the U.S. release of CureSight, the company’s digital therapy for amblyopia. CureSight received FDA 510(K) clearance based on a study that shows the device to be non-inferior to eye patching for amblyopia treatment in children. The therapy is carried out while the child watches any streamed content of their choice on an eye tracking-based device from home. Reports are shared via a web portal, allowing eye care providers to monitor patient treatment progress and compliance.

REUSABLE CONTACT LENS FOR ASTIGMATISM
Alcon announced TOTAL30 for Astigmatism, a reusable contact lens for astigmatic contact lens wearers, will be broadly available in the United States and Europe this year. The lens features water-gradient material that enables a gradual increase to nearly 100% water at the outermost surface of the lens. The lens also features CELLIGENT technology to help resist bacteria and lipid deposits, and PRECISION BALANCE 8|4 lens design to provide on-eye stability, the company says.

Bausch + Lomb Corporation announced the U.S. introduction of PreserVision AREDS 2 Formula mini soft gels with OCUSorb. Offering a proprietary composition of lutein and zeaxanthin, OCUSorb has been clinically shown to provide superior absorption of these nutrients into the body as compared to the original PreserVision, Bausch + Lomb says. The vitamins, which contain the exact nutrient formula recommended by the NEI, will replace the current PreserVision AREDS 2 Formula mini gel formula, according to the company.

Europa Tangent offers a three-zone step-system that ensures advanced customization options remain available. The lens design features one landing zone curve, engineered to follow the natural slope of the scleral surface. According to the Visionary Optics, this results in a smooth, soft transition to the landing zone. With Europa Tangent and Visionary Optics’ contour curve technology, ECPs can make precise, independent adjustments to parameters in the central, limbal, and landing zones without affecting other fitting characteristics.

ZEISS Vision Care released the ZEISS ClearView Single Vision lenses. ZEISS says it identified a way to incorporate many attributes of complex single vision freeform lens designs into standard single vision lenses as both surfaced and stock lenses. ZEISS ClearView Single Vision lenses provide clear vision from the lens center to the periphery, while improving overall aesthetics by being very thin and flat, according to the company.
