EssilorLuxottica and Armani Enter 15-Year Extension Agreement
EssilorLuxottica and Armani Group entered a 15-year licensing renewal. The agreement includes the development, production, and worldwide distribution of eyewear under the Giorgio Armani, Giorgio Armani Privé, Emporio Armani, EA7 Emporio Armani, and A|X Armani Exchange brands. This agreement arrives three months ahead of deadline, as the current agreement expires on Dec. 31. The new agreement is effective Jan. 1, 2023.
Heru Adds Dark Adaptation to Technology
Heru launched dark adaptation on the company’s wearable platform, expanding its screening capabilities. The medical software company focuses on the development of its commercially available AR and VR head-mounted displays. Its multi-modal wearable solution offers several tests included within an eye exam, in a single platform, the company says.

International Dry Eye Education Initiative Gains Three Professors
The World Council of Optometry and Alcon named three global experts as lead faculty for their new dry eye disease education initiative. The initiative, a worldwide evidence-based program, is designed to raise optometrists’ understanding of dry eye etiology, prevalence, diagnosis, and practical management. The professors named: Jennifer Craig, Lyndon Jones, and James Wolffsohn. As part of the initiative, the professors will distill research and clinical evidence into accessible educational content, beginning with online events and content.
Nicox Announces Final Patients Complete Visit in NCX 470 Phase 3 Trial
Nicox SA announced that the last patients completed their final (three-month) visit in the Mont Blanc Phase 3 clinical trial of NCX 470 0.1% for the lowering of IOP in open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension patients. A total of 691 patients were enrolled in the trial. NCX 470 is a novel nitric oxide (NO)-donating prostaglandin analog eye drop.
Prevent Blindness Announces Second Annual Inflammatory Eye Disease Awareness Week Prevent Blindness (PB) declared Sept. 26 to Oct. 2, 2022, as the second annual Inflammatory Eye Disease (IED) Awareness Week. PB is offering a dedicated webpage that provides detailed information on IED (e.g. uveitis, keratitis, conjunctivitis, rheumatoid arthritis and thyroid eye disease), downloadable fact sheets in English and Spanish, and resources for eye care. New this year: a Spanish version of the PB Keratitis fact sheet. Prevent Blindness also offers the “Inflammatory Eye Disease” episode of the Focus on Eye Health Expert Series.
