Ocugen receives Regenerative Medicine Advanced Therapy Designation for retinitis pigmentosa gene therapy
Ocugen, Inc. announced that the FDA granted Regenerative Medicine Advanced Therapy designation to the company’s investigational product OCU400 for the treatment of retinitis pigmentosa (RP) associated with RHO mutations. Receiving RMAT designation offers sponsor companies all the benefits of the fast track and breakthrough therapy designation programs, including early interactions with the FDA, according to the press release. The designation was based on preliminary clinical data supporting the maintenance and improvement of visual acuity and function in RP patients in the OCU400 -101 Phase 1/2 clinical trial.
Oculis reveals First Patient First Visit in trial of treatment for inflammation and pain following cataract surgery
Oculis Holding AG announced the First Patient First Visit in its OCS-01 Phase 3 OPTIMIZE-2 trial for the treatment of inflammation and pain following cataract surgery. Data from the trial is intended to support the company’s New Drug Application submission to the FDA. OCS-01 is a once-daily, topical, preservative-free corticosteroid.
Stuart Therapeutics announced the First Patient First Visit in trial of treatment for dry eye disease
Stuart Therapeutics, Inc. named the First Patient First Visit for its phase 3 clinical trial of ST-100 (vezocolmitide) for the treatment of dry eye disease. The phase 3 multi-center, randomized, double-masked, placebo-controlled study is assessing the safety and efficacy of the treatment versus placebo. Vezocolmitide is based on PolyCol, the company's patented synthesized polypeptide collagen mimetic peptide platform, according to a press release.
