Recently announced by EyeMed and the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation, the new EyeMed Cares Disaster Relief Replacement Program provides eligible EyeMed members who have been affected by natural disasters with replacement eyewear and access to eye care. The program is designed to help members quickly restore access to vision care while simplifying the process for eyecare providers, the companies said in a press release.
Following a declared natural disaster, eligible members can contact EyeMed to receive a temporary disaster relief benefit that may be used within 90 days to replace lost or damaged vision materials. The program also covers a comprehensive eye exam through an in-network provider at no cost for members who need one.
Matt MacDonald, president of EyeMed, said the initiative is intended to ensure members maintain access to vision care during times of unexpected hardship. Becky Palm, executive director of the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation, North America, added the partnership is designed to help communities recover by providing timely access to eyewear and vision care services.
According to EyeMed, the program builds on the company's collaboration with the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation and reflects a shared commitment to reducing financial and logistical barriers to vision care following natural disasters. OM
