New Edger
Also at Vision Expo in New York, Briot unveiled the Axcell CL, an edging system that offers automatic centering blocking with a touchscreen. In addition, the Axcell CL features 5-D tracing.
Briot says the 5-D tracing "goes beyond 3-D" to measure frame size, shape and curvature, as well as thickness and the angle of the frame bevel. The company believes that its 5-D tracing delivers the most accurate and aesthetic lens fit inside the frame.

Biocompatibles Acquired
CooperVision has acquired Biocompatibles Eye Care. The acquisition includes the Proclear, Acti and Hydron family of products.
Until June, you can still purchase Biocompatibles products through Biocompatibles. After June, you can purchase all Biocompatibles products from CooperVision, either online or over the phone.
A CooperVision spokesperson says, "We are committed to maintaining the current distribution policies on the Proclear line and will work to prevent diversion of the product via the double-bar code system already in place with the products."
