■ The Très Jolie style TJ106 is a women's frame, from Marchon, that features spring hinges and pearls with metal accents that twirl along the temples and plastic temple sleeves.

Lens parameter expansion

■ The Teflon Clear Coat finished single-vision (FSV) line of spectacle lenses, from Carl Zeiss Vision, are now available in powers from 4.00D to -6.00D, to a -2.00D cylinder in both polycarbonate and CR-39 materials.

The lenses feature low visible reflectance for clarity, scratch resistance and a hydrophobic, oleophobic top-coat that facilitates cleaning, according to the company.

FDA approves combination device

■ The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently approved the 3D OCT-100, a combination, fourier-domain, optical-coherence tomographer and non-mydriatic retinal camera, from Topcon, for use in the U.S.

The device provides a 3-D view of a given area and measures 100% of this area — allowing you to map the location of a retinal abnormality, such as a macular hole, and take cross-sectional images to help you diagnose and monitor the patient, the company says.

Patient Direct adds MPS

■ The Sauflon Lite Multipurpose solution is now part of the company's Patient Direct Program starter kit. The kit also contains a preprinted Patient Direct membership card, with an I.D. number that identifies you as a particular patient's optometrist.

■ The SynergEyes Multifocal, combines the oxygen permeable hard center of a gas permeable (GP) lens with a soft lens skirt for presbyopic patients.

The daily-wear lens has a Dk of 100, a diameter of 14.5mm and comes in base curves of 7.1mm to 8.0mm in 0.10mm steps. It's available in sphere powers of +2.00D to -6.00D in 0.25D steps and with add powers of 1.25D, 1.75D and 2.25D.
