■ The newly designed M3, a combination automatic refractor, keratometer and non-contact tonometer, from Marco, features the following enhancements:
The new M3 has a CCD camera with super luminescent diode technology.
• A CCD (charge couple device) camera, which captures the retro-illumination of the super luminescent diode (SLD) image from the retina to accurately measure the autorefraction and to provide a qualitative assessment of patients of who have cataracts, corneal opacities, intraocular lenses and post-LASIK eyes.
• Fully automated eye alignment, tracking and focusing.

Toric contact lens
■ The Extreme H2O 54% Toric LC (low cylinder — 0.65D) daily wear contact lens, from Hydrogel Vision Corporation, is for patients who have 0.50D to 1.00D of astigmatism. The lens, which is made of 46% hioxifilcon D and 54% water, features a Dk of 21, a 14.2mm diameter, an 8.6mm base curve and sphere powers from plano to -6.00D. Also, the lens features a 30° axis around the clock, making it a quick fit, the company says.

Digital microscope camera
■ Microcast HD, from Optronics, is a high-definition C-Mount digital camera for microscopes. The device has 1080P (progressive) digital output at 60 frames per second. In addition, it delivers an image resolution of 1920 × 1080 (two million) pixels with real-time frame rates, reflecting natural human vision, via its 3CCD, high-definition progressive scan technology, the company says.
Image outputs include two DVI (digital visual interface) outputs, RGB, S-Video and DV.

Contact lens and case timer
■ LensAlert!, from the WatchDog Group, is a digital timer that enables contact-lens wearers to set their lens and case replacement schedules based on their specific lens. The device is available in two forms:
- A tray with a digital timer designed to fit most lens cases, according to the company.
- A full-year system, which includes 12 multi-colored cases that snap on to the device. (Both products contain separate buttons for the lens- and case life.)
