FOR YOUR PATIENTS AND PRACTICE
Optical measurement system
■ The Center, from AIT Industries, is a patient-measurement device for your optical lab.
It uses three built-in cameras and infrared light-emitting diodes (LED) to obtain 3-D patient measurements. These measurements include interpupillary distance, nasopupillary distance, pupillary height, vertex distance and pantascopic frame angle — the latter of which the device can achieve in almost 80% of cases, the company says.
The Center is particularly useful for fitting both conventional and free-form progressive lenses, AIT Industries says.
Because the device offers these measurements, it's particularly useful for fitting both conventional and free-form progressive lenses, AIT Industries says.

Dry-eye drop
■ blink Tears, from Advanced Medical Optics (AMO), is an over-the-counter (OTC) lubricating eye drop for dry-eye patients.
The drop offers patients more than 60 minutes of moisture retention time, replenishes the tear film with each blink and improves tear-film stability, the company says.
In addition, blink Tears adapts to the dry-eye patient's needs via thickening when the eye is open and thinning upon blink, AMO says.

Field analyzer
■ The Humphrey Field Analyzer II-I (HFA II-i), from Carl Zeiss Meditec, enables you to closely monitor changes in the eye to prevent irreversible loss of vision from Glaucoma, via its Guided Progression Analysis (GPA) software, the company says.
The software determines the stage of glaucoma, rate of its progression and your patient's risk of future vision loss. It does this by automatically summarizing all available visual-field test results on a single page and by calculating the patient's rate of visual-field deterioration, Carl Zeiss Meditec says.

Dry-eye insert
■ Lacrisert, from Aton Pharma, is a prescription-only preservative-free, once-daily sustained-release ophthalmic insert of hydroxypropyl cellulose, which you place in the eye's inferior cul-de-sac.
The insert enables moisture retention, tear-film stabilization and lubrication of the eye, providing dry-eye patients with relief from their moderate to severe symptoms all day, the company says.
In addition, Lacrisert may help slow, stop or reverse further damage to a dry-eye patient's corneal surface, Aton Pharma says.
