Dry eye drop

■ The BlinkGel Tears Lubricating Eye Drop, from Advanced Medical Optics (AMO), is compromised of a more viscous formula than Blink-Tears to provide symptom relief to moderate to severe dry eye patients. The drop thickens when the eye opens and thins upon eye closure, restoring the tear film with every blink and improving tear film stability, the company says.

Integrated refraction system

■ The TRS-5100 Refraction System, from Marco, and the Smart System 20/20 Visual Acuity System, from M&S Technologies, are now integrated. This means you can access and view all the Smart System features, such as Lea Symbols, via the TRS-5100 control panel. ■ The Proclear 1-Day contact lens, from CooperVision, now comes in a plus sphere power range up to +6.00D. Previous sphere powers were -0.25D to -10.00D (0.50D steps above -6.00D). The daily disposable omafilcon A lens is manufactured with the company's PC Technology, which the company says provides all-day moisture and comfort. Other features: a Dk/t of 36.6, an 8.7mm base curve and a 14.2mm diameter. It's available in a 90-lens carton and a 30-lens revenue carton.

Image system interface

■ The EyeRoute Image Management System, from Topcon Medical Systems, Inc., now provides a direct interface to the Oculus Pentacam Corneal Topography System. To import Pentacam exams into EyeRoute, simply click the export button in the Pentacam software. Then, EyeRoute integrates Pentacam reports and images, among the reports and images of other ophthalmic devices, into a digital environment for instance access.
