■ The DAILIES AquaComfort Plus family of one-day contact lenses, from Alcon, are now available in toric and multifocal designs. In other news, Alcon announced it will launch Air Optix color contact lenses in June.
■ Luxottica Group S.p.A. and Google Inc. are creating a team of experts (e.g. high-tech developers, fashion designers and eyewear professionals) to design, create and engineer Google Glass products. Ray-Ban and Oakley will be participating, though no further details are available.
■ TearScience will unbundle sales of its LipiFlow and LipiView systems. The LipiFlow Thermal Pulsation System can improve meibomian gland secretions, while LipiView acquires tear film images to measure the lipid layer’s absolute thickness.
■ RevolutionEHR has launched RevMarket, an online marketplace that connects its users with integrated apps and services that enhance and extend the system’s power within practice. Examples of apps: claims processing and e-prescribing.
■ The AOA’s “Eye Care of the Patient with Diabetes Mellitus” is an evidence-based guideline to aid O.D.s. The protocol was created by O.D.s, two M.D.s — a retinal specialist and an endocrinologist — and a patient and patient advocate. ■ The Smart System, from M&S Technologies, has been chosen as the refraction system of choice in the Part III tests administered by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry.
■ Bob Ferrigno has become president of CooperVision, North America. In this role, he will “guide the company’s strategies and direction” for this region. In related news, CooperVision announced it will collaborate with the AOA Student Association to raise awareness of its Adopt-a-Patient program, which allows third- and fourth- year optometry students to examine and fit eligible patients in CooperVision’s contact lenses. Patients receive a complementary supply of contact lenses, and VSP subsidizes the cost of the exam.
■ SynergEyes, Inc., has named Jeffrey Sonsino, O.D., F.A.A.O., as its director of clinical studies. In a consultative role, he will head the company’s clinical studies through “engaging patients” within his Nashville, Tenn. practice and networking with other eyecare practitioners on a national basis when a clinical study is comprised of large number of patients.
■ Gilan Cockrell, O.D., F.A.A.O., has become executive vice president for Corporate Strategy of the Williams Group, an eyecare practice management-consulting firm. Dr. Cockrell has practiced privately for more than 30 years in Emporia, Kan., has lead an array of optometric groups, such as the Eye Care Council, and is the recipient of numerous optometry-related awards.
■ Kate Renwick-Espinosa, VSP Global’s chief marketing officer, has been elected to Prevent Blindness’ Board of Directors. The Prevent Blindness Board of Directors will meet in June during the organization’s Third Annual Focus on Eye Health: National Summit in Washington, D.C.

■ Susan Oleszewski, O.D., M.A., has become chief of staff at Salus University. In this role, she will oversee the University’s daily operations, as well as strategic planning and development. Also, Dr. Oleszewski will work with administrative leaders on key University projects.
