■ Vistakon announced Millicent Knight, O.D., as head of Professional Affairs, Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, North America. Dr. Knight will lead the company’s professional strategy in the U.S. and Canada.
■ Transitions Optical has appointed Chris King as education manager. Mr. King will be responsible for leading strategy and the creation of education and training initiatives to support industry professionals.
■ The AOA’s Board of Trustees has named Jon Hymes as interim executive director and Renee Brauns as interim deputy executive director. Mr. Hymes is the AOA’s Washington office director, and Ms. Brauns is COO.
■ VSP announced its new Health Plan and Public Exchanges Business Unit. The company says it has contracted with 90 new health plans for 2014 to date. In related news, Al Schubert has been named senior vice president and general manager of the new unit.

■ Oasis Medical Inc. has joined forces with Spain-based AJL-Ophthalmics, S.A. to sell and distribute Intacts corneal implants for keratoconus treatment and myopia treatment.
■ SynergEyes has launched its newest contact lens, Duette Progressive, designed deliver vision at all distances for presbyopes. The lens features a dual-aspheric optic design, which includes a center-near add zone with a choice of three add powers.
■ Sauflon announced it is entering the U.S. contact lens market with its clariti 1 day silicone hydrogel daily disposable contact lenses, the world’s first family of sphere, toric and multifocal silicone hydrogel daily, says the company.
