■ Leica Microsystems, which produces microscopy and imaging systems, has signed an agreement to acquire OCT maker Bioptigen, Inc.

■ The Varilux Optometry Student Bowl, recently celebrated its 24th anniversary at Optometry’s Meeting in Seattle.
