■ Erik Henderson has been elected president of the American Optometric Student Association.
■ National Association of Vision Care Plans has launched a streamlined process for providing credentials. Always-Care, Davis Vision, EyeMed, eyeQuest, MESVision, National Vision, Superior Vision, United-Healthcare/Spectera Eyecare Networks, Vision Benefits of America and VSP Vision Care have agreed to the process.
■ Optometry Giving Sight consolidated its global development board with a new structure and 11 members. New members include: Dr. Glenn Ellisor, executive chairman, Vision Source; Marc Ferrara, CEO Information Services, Jobson Medical Information; Pat McNeil, chief communications officer, VSP Global; Dr. Howard Purcell, senior vice president, customer development group, Essilor of America; Dr. Alan Ulsifer, president and chairman, FYidoctors and Dr. Rick Weisbarth, vice president of professional affairs, Alcon. They join five existing board members.
■ Think About Your Eyes had a record breaking year in 2015, with about 1.3 million consumers impressions and generating 1 million eye exams. ■ Alcon has entered into an agreement to buy Transcend Medical Inc, which develops devices to treat glaucoma.
■ Melanie Miller has joined the ABB OPTICAL GROUP team as its managing director of strategic and national accounts.

■ Kim Schuy was appointed president of Essilor Vision Foundation. She replaces Stephen Shawler, who will now be vice president of ECP training and insights in the customer development group.
