THE QUESTIONS & THE ANSWERS
YOUR QUESTIONS DROVE THE CONTENT OF THIS ISSUE
Scot Morris
O.D., F.A.A.O.
Chief Optometric Editor
THIS MONTH our entire issue is focused on, well, the answers. I am a big fan of asking questions to find out the answers so we decided to apply that method to this month’s issue.
THE SURVEY
We sent a survey to our readers asking that you send us your questions. And — wow — did you!
We received more than 400 questions. There were so many questions, we could devote the entire year’s content toward just answering them. We divided many of the questions among the various departments and asked our columnists to choose some of their favorite topics to write about. (The remainder of the questions will be addressed in upcoming issues.)
For those who contributed, thank you! For the rest of you, please look forward to this again next year.
KEEP QUESTIONING
This issue made me think about what I have learned in terms of questions and answers. Simply put, successful communicators ask focused, pre-determined questions to find out what the other party wants, desires or thinks.
Then, after they ask the question they shut their mouths and listen. (After all, we have one mouth and two ears. Hopefully, we use them in the correct proportion.)
Are you asking the right questions? Take 30 minutes, and answer the questions below. The answers will likely give insight and direction to where you go next. Perhaps you will even add some of your own! OM
• WHAT DO YOU ASK YOUR PATIENTS?
• WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM YOUR STAFF?
• WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM YOUR BUSINESS?
• WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM YOURSELF?
