As the newly elected president of the National Optometric Association (NOA), Sherrol Reynolds, O.D., F.A.A.O., says she will, “build on the successes of the NOA by working to address eye health disparities through advocacy, community outreach and education programs to underserved communities and scholarships to ensure that the legacy of this organization endures forever.”

She adds the NOA owes it to the next generation of smart, gifted and talented young people who dream of being optometrists and giving back to their communities.

The NOA, founded in 1969, is a not-for-profit corporation that seeks to recruit minority students into the schools and colleges of optometry and jobs post-graduation and advance the vision and ocular health of minority populations through the effective and efficient delivery of ocular and vision care services to the minority community.

Dr. Reynolds is also the NOA’s liaison to the NEI’s National Eye Health Education Program, an associate professor at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry and “Retina” columnist for Optometric Management. ■
