Academy 2020 at Home ran from Oct. 7 through Oct. 22 with eye care professionals tuning in from their homes and offices, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In this format, the Academy of Optometry (AAO) was able to provide about 300 hours of CE, in which participants were able to earn up to 80 CE credits. (Attendees to an in-person meeting were limited to 34 hours of CE, reports the AAO.) A replay of the entire event is available on-demand until Dec. 31.
The meeting officially launched with its annual press conference comprised of 20 rapid-fire presentations (10 scientific papers and 10 industry presentations), which were selected by the AAO’s Communications Committee. The presentations included:
