Cristina Rosano, O.D., a 2020 graduate of the Salus University Pennsylvania College of Optometry and a West Chester, Pa. native, is one of eight out of 576 applicants to make the cut for the 2020 Philadelphia Eagles’ cheer squad. Dr. Rosano, among the other candidates, submitted a try-out video, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I was contacted via Zoom under the premise they needed additional information, and they surprised me!” she explains.
A dancer since youth, Dr. Rosano has been practicing with her fellow squad members virtually, as they wait for the verdict on the 2020 season. Additionally, she is practicing optometry full time at a Philadelphia-area practice.
She says she aspires to expand from primary eye care to the specialty lens niche, as she has keratoconus.
“I’ve experienced first-hand the value of specialty lenses,” she explains.
Dr. Rosano says she’s also looking forward to participating in the Eagles’ Charitable Foundation, which has a partnership with Vision to Learn, an organization that provides free eye exams and spectacles to children living in low-income areas. OM
