THE REASONS
In the eyes of patients, there is not much difference among O.D.s who provide traditional eye care. However, when someone has a specific problem (e.g. dry eye disease, progressive myopia, contact lens intolerance, etc.), they often seek the “best.” Below are some ambitious, yet impactful, ways to build your credibility.
ACTION STEPS
- Get published. Inquire with publications about submitting an article on your area of expertise. (For Optometric Management, visit optometricmanagement.com/contact-us .) Once published, share these articles via email, social media, etc.
- Get interviewed. When you are interviewed for your insights on a topic, people automatically assume you are an authority on the topic. Media channels, like podcasts, radio and even local TV networks, are always looking for people to interview on various topics.
- Write a book. If you put a few hundred words down every day over a few months, you have a book. It’s relatively easy to self-publish a book on Amazon. Think of your book as a business card, and wait for calls. OM
