THE REASONS
For online viewers, your website is the face of your practice and often the first impression people have of you. Before I consult with an O.D., I’ll frequently review their practice website to get a feel for the practice. Sometimes, I’m impressed. Other times I think… “Ooh, this needs a makeover!”
ACTION STEPS
- Use more photos. Even in today’s eCommerce world, people like doing business with “real” people. Drop the stock photos, and use actual photos of you, your staff and your practice. People are drawn to visuals. This helps humanize your practice.
- Use less text. Those five paragraphs on your home page about the new retinal camera you just bought; your lengthy doctor bio; your practice history from inception to present. This information isn’t important to most patients. Be succinct with less relevant information, and focus on items, such as the specific care you provide, that are highly valuable to patients.
- Stand out. Does your website look similar to other websites in terms of appearance, verbiage and promises? If so, look for ways to make it stand out. Find some sites that grab your attention, and share them with your web designer. OM
