  • Avellino Labs USA hosted the webinar “Focus on Keratoconus” on Nov. 10 to coincide with World Keratoconus Day. The webinar featured a panel discussion with keratoconus medical experts that included the prevalence of keratoconus, the importance of early diagnosis, unmet diagnostic needs and the role of genetic testing in eye care practices.   • The British Contact Lens Association published a paper in its peer-reviewed journal, Contact Lens and Anterior Eye, that relates the dangers of inappropriate soft contact lens substitution by consumers and resellers. Specifically, the paper explains why providers choose a certain contact lens — the patient’s ocular anatomy and lifestyle among them — and why it’s essential the specific recommendation is followed.   • The World Council of Optometry will live stream lectures for clinicians and optometric educators on Nov. 20, 2021. The event, “Eyes Around the World: A Global Day of Learning,” will be presented across three time zones and will be available online to registrants following the event. It will include talks by more than 25 speakers from 12 countries who will cover such topics diabetes, dry eye management, myopia management and specialty contact lenses.
