Expanded ultra-widefield imaging modalities

Optos is expanding the optomap ultra-widefield (UWF) retinal imaging modalities available with the California FA device to further assist in disease management and treatment planning. In addition to optomap color rg (red/green), sensory red-free, choroidal, autofluorescence (AF), fluorescein angiography (FAF) and indocyanine green angiography (ICGA) modalities, the company announced the ultra-widefield color rgb (red/green/blue) image modality, which i captured simultaneous to the optomap color rg image. Thus, a single capture delivers two color UWF images.

Two chair options for exam lane

Haag-Streit now offers two exam chair options for the Reliance Optometry Workplace; choice of chair will not change the workplace’s price. The Reliance 6200 offers efficient operation from both sides of the chair. Its design aids patient contact and eliminates wasted movements. The chair has a manual pneumatic assisted recline examination and hydraulic lift. The Reliance 520 manual pneumatic-assisted tilt-recline examination chair has a padded headrest and manual recline bar, accessible from both chair sides, which can tilt the chair up to 40 degrees.

Warm eye masks

Zeiss Vision Care released the Zeiss Warm Eye Masks. The individually wrapped and disposable masks are designed to refresh and soothe dry, tired eyes. The masks use gentle heat to soothe, relax, and stimulate the meibomian glands. The warmth helps to unblock the glands which support natural tear fluid production, according to a Zeiss press release. The masks are designed to fit any face. They instantly self-heat to a gentle yet effective temperature that lasts 15 minutes.

Needle-free allergy test

Bruder Healthcare announced a distribution agreement with AllerFocus for its percutaneous allergy test, a pain-free, needle-free allergy screening for 78 of the most common airborne and environmental allergens. AllerFocus relies on skin contact to identify which allergens cause skin reactions. Doctors receive a supply of the allergens, dip well tray sets and storage containers, sterile testing applicators, measurement tool, documents and forms, test prep card for patients, test signature forms, color-coded test report form, and marketing materials in English and Spanish.
