- EssilorLuxottica and the United Nations Special Envoy for Road Safety have joined to promote an awareness campaign, “Check your vision – Drive Safe,” to support the United Nations road safety targets. This campaign will be rolled out across EssilorLuxottica’s business networks, in an effort to reach the widest possible audience. In other EssilorLuxottica news, the company has also teamed with World Society of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (WSPOS) to provide WSPOS’ medical education content on myopia management via Leonardo, EssilorLuxottica’s open-learning platform.

- Glaukos Corp. announced the completion of enrollment and randomization of its second Phase 3 confirmatory pivotal trial for Epioxa, its corneal collagen cross-linking therapy for the treatment of keratoconus. The multi-center, randomized, placebo and sham procedure-controlled confirmatory pivotal trial randomized 312 eyes to evaluate the safety and efficacy of Epioxa therapy in impeding the progression of, and/or reducing maximum corneal curvature based on corneal topography, where an increasing Kmax denotes corneal steepening and keratoconus disease progression.
- World Sight Day, led by the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB), will emphasize the importance of prioritizing eye care in the workplace with the theme #LoveYourEyes at Work. World Sight Day will be celebrated Oct. 12, 2023. From employee productivity and safety, to businesses taking the necessary steps to ensure their workforce, at all levels, the theme aims to raise awareness of the measures to protect eyesight and access eye care wherever and whenever it is needed.
- The International Sports Vision Association (ISVA) launched “Ask a Sports Vision Expert” on its website. The service has optometrists, athletic trainers, researchers, and others with expertise in sports vision assessment and training respond to questions related to how the visual system can help athletes gain optimal performance in a variety of sports and leisure activities.
