THE REASONS
Who said work has to be a grind? Let’s talk about some ways to make your practice a fun place to work. In this labor market, employers need to consider why people leave jobs and take steps to prevent excessive attrition. It’s not always about money.
When we enjoy our job and the people we work with, it’s harder to leave even when presented with better pay. While you may not eliminate attrition, let’s at least try to create an environment that will make it hard for employees to leave.
THE IMPLEMENTATION
Here are a few ways to make your office more fun:
- Lead by example. As a leader, employees need to see that it’s OK to have fun. This may have to start with you not taking yourself quite as seriously.
- Get rid of the bad apples. Got a few troublemakers on the team? People who are argumentative, confrontational, or too gossipy? They may not be a fit for this new culture.
- Plan fun events! Examples include local sporting events, escape rooms, an outdoor retreat, or just a nice dinner out. Get your team together away from the office where everyone can do something fun and get to know each other better. OM
