- The Contact Lens Institute added translations to its suite of EASY (Eyes, Awareness, Safety, and You) Way patient education tools, timed for the back-to-school season. The initiative enables a broad spectrum of the eye care community to communicate simple steps to healthy, comfortable contact lens wear, according to the press release. Specifically, the EASY Way social media graphics and animations are now available in English, Spanish, French, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. - George Glady, one of the founders of Euclid Vision, passed away in August. Mr. Glady helped conceptualize orthokeratology, according to a press release. - LKC Technologies released a new report on diabetic retinopathy (DR) titled Modern Fundamentals of Diabetic Retinopathy Management in Optometry. It is a consensus document developed by an optometric task force comprised of medical optometry educators who wanted to simplify and standardize DR assessment and management to avoid preventable vision loss. The updated platform introduces new features and functionality intended to streamline and improve the myopia management learning experience. - The New England College of Optometry (NECO) welcomed over 120 guests to the Beacon Street Campus in August for the third annual NECO Industry Collaborative. Among the topics covered: demand for eye care professionals according to labor statistics, the impact of the Supreme Court ruling overturning affirmative action and its role in eye care; the potential of telehealth to address the gap between supply and demand for eye care. - Optometry Giving Sight (OGS) has issued its 2023 World Sight Day Challenge. OGS’ World Sight Day Challenge runs through the end of October, with World Sight Day to be celebrated on Oct. 12. - Prevent Blindness has launched its advocacy effort, Eyes on Capitol Hill, which can be found at advocacy.preventblindness.org . The new website and legislative action center will educate and empower advocates with information and tools to pursue policies that preserve sight. The new website is an extension of the legislative day by the same name, which is now in its 18th year.
- SightGlass Vision reported positive four-year outcomes from its CYPRESS study extension, which is evaluating the myopia control performance of the company’s Diffusion Optics Technology (DOT 0.2) spectacle lenses. - Visioneering Technologies, Inc. announced Dr. Juan Carlos Aragón was appointed the company’s chief executive officer and executive director.
