Practice Tip: Keshav Bhat, OD, MS, recommends offering “sample” contact lenses to patients who have myopia. Specifically, by having a complete fitting set of lenses designed specifically for myopia management on hand, he can place a pair of diagnostic lenses in the child’s eye during the initial consultation. “I find that this practice usually confirms the ease of the [fitting] process and convinces parents to have the child take home a few to practice the insertion/removal procedures. This experience often translates to buy-in,” he writes in “Persuade Parents to Support Myopia Management,” at https://www.optometricmanagement.com/issues/2022/september-2022/persuade-parents-to-support-myopia-management.
