A New Way to Detect Glaucoma
Gentle, mobile and affordable -- see what else this instrument has to offer.
By Gregg Ossip, O.D.
Most of us are more comfortable using one method to detect glaucoma suspects than another. But once you try Keeler Instruments' Pulsair EasyEye noncontact tonometer, you'll wonder why you hadn't before. It's easy to use, accurate, gentle and mobile. Here are the details.
Introducing the Pulsair EasyEye
The setup is quick and simple -- we had the Pulsair up and operational without referring to the instructions. I suggest you place the instrument in your pretest area. It's compact and will allow your techs to provide you with accurate glaucoma pressure measurements before you even enter the exam room. Here's more about some of the Pulsair's notable features:

Keeler's Pulsair EasyEye non-contact tonometer is gentle. |
Easy to use. The Pulsair EasyEye has what's called Seeing eye optics, which allow easy alignment of the patient's eye with this instrument. It self aligns and fires so your technicians will find it easy to use. The EasyEye also has green tracking diodes to indicate the optimal position before automatic activation. No more difficult alignment and manual firing.
Accurate. A recently published study established the accuracy of the Pulsair in relation to applanation tonometry. Based on 150 eyes with an IOP range of 10 mmHg to 44 mmHg, Pulsair EasyEye is as accurate as Goldmann tonometers but has its own distinct advantages.
Comfortable. With constant puff monitoring technology patients feel much more at ease, which will significantly reduce the squeezing effect and give you more consistent readings.
You can demonstrate the gentleness of this instrument to your patients by puffing their hand first with the Pulsair so they can feel the softness of the puff.
Proof of greatness
If you're interested in the Pulsair EasyEye but want to hear more about benefits, consider these:
- The EasyEye creates a more high-tech image of your office.
- Patients can enjoy the accuracy of a Goldmann tonometer without the drops.
- The instrument is lightweight and portable. It even comes with an optional rechargeable battery and carrying case, making it deal for screenings and nursing home visits.
- The results of your readings are automatically printed including the mean measurement along with the number of readings taken. You can easily attach this printout to your patients' records.
- Use the Pulsair Easy Eye on patients who have disabilities and gain tax credits from The Americans with Disabilities Act. (Contact your tax accountant for more information on this credit.)
