“GOOD SCRIPTS ARE HARD TO FIND” — DANIEL CRAIG
Welcome to the encyclopedia of patient scripts, or “Scriptopedia,” where you, our readers, submit specific scripts that you or your staff have used with great success in your practice. Each script is presented with the goal of either increasing patient education or the dispensing of a product or service. This month's topic: Internet Resources.
Online CLs: |
I understand that you plan to take your contact lens prescription elsewhere. Would you be interested in getting a price quote from us? Many times we are very competitive and, in some instances, provide a better value than the online options. This is especially true if you tear or lose a lens. We typically provide a spare at no cost as a courtesy to those individuals who purchase contact lenses from us. The online vendors choose to not do this and may charge you such a significant difference that it actually costs much more to buy online.” |

Online Glasses: |
I understand that you want your prescription for glasses. Will you be purchasing these online? From another outside source? Please let me educate you that many of the online vendors use lens products that are many times decades old or not the newest technology. I just want you to be aware that your quality of vision may be significantly less than with higher quality lenses. Do you have any questions about this fact? |
Online Education “Googling it”: |
I understand that you have been getting some education online. Do you have any questions or concerns about what you have read? As you are well aware, not all things online are factual. I would like to make sure you are well informed about your options. |
