■ Daniel Carey has been named director of state government relations for the AOA. Mr. Carey most recently served as the National Rifle Association’s government relations liaison.
■ Dr. James Vaught has been named interim executive director of The American Board of Optometry. Dr. Vaught most recently served as chairman of the board. Also, Dr. Barbara Reiss has been named chairwoman; Dr. Stanley Woo, a member representing ASCO, and Dr. Paul Hodge,a member presenting AOA.
