OVERVIEW

The ACUVUE OASYS 1-Day is made with fourth generation HydraLuxe Technology, which has a tear-infused design with an enhanced network of tear-like molecules that helps to reduce symptoms of tired eyes and dryness, according to the company. The design highlights include an optimized packaging solution, which is electrolyte-balanced to mimic human tears, and changes to the lens diameter and optic zone. Also, the lens comes in two base curves, but after four months of clinical use, I have yet to require the flatter lens to achieve the proper cornea/contact lens relationship.

FITTING AND CHAIR TIME

When discussing treatment options, I start at the top, with the recent innovations, and work down. Our goal is to expose every established or new contact lens patient to the lens. We introduce it as such, “Miss Smith, I have a new lens technology that will provide comfort and clear vision. I’d like to try the lens on you.”

The lens provides comfort and vision upgrades that most daily disposable lens wearers notice immediately. And, in most patients, this high performance lasts all day. In my experience, most existing contact lens patients convert and upgrade once they have tried it on.

PRACTICE BENEFITS

The main benefit of prescribing this lens is that my patients know they are receiving an innovative product from my office as soon as it is available. Being an early adopter is important to our practice and our reputation.

THE UPGRADE TO DAILIES

Because of the performance of this lens, a significant number of my patients are upgrading to the daily disposable modality. It’s a change that’s good for my practice and my patients.
