■ International Vision Expo & Conference East increased attendance to more than 16,000 attendees. More than 5,000 global brands were represented, with attendees from 94 countries. Education registration broke records for overall attendance. The event offered 350 hours of CE, including 143 hours of new content in clinical, optical technology and business solutions.
LEGISLATION
■ In May, Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal signed legislation that requires an in-person, comprehensive eye exam performed by a qualified eye care professional prior to a contact lens or eyeglasses prescription. The law also makes a distinction between telemedicine and online “vision tests,” according to the AOA. OM
