■ EssilorLuxottica announced it will acquire HAL’s 76.72% interest in GrandVision, a global optical retailer with more than 7,000 stores, at a cash purchase price equal to Euro 28 per share. The transaction is expected to close in 12 months to 24 months, according to an EssilorLuxottica press release.

■ International Sports Vision Association (ISVA) has launched Dynamic Visual Skills for Sports, a program that will provide an overview of some of the most relative dynamic visual skills associated with 12 sports-related areas: baseball/softball, basketball, boxing, football, golf, hockey, motorsports, skiing, soccer, table tennis and tennis. ■ Professional Eye Care Associates of America hosted its 2019 annual meeting in Austin, Texas. More than 900 individuals from the PECAA community attended the meeting, which included elective courses based on attendees’ interests and practice needs. This year marked the first time PECAA offered enhanced staff track courses, which featured office manager training and certification and optician training and certification preparation. Next year’s meeting will be held in Denver, April 30 to May 2.

■ Sight Sciences Inc. announced that industry executives Jessica Holmes, Brian Regan and Jim Slack have joined the company as vice president of health policy and reimbursement, vice president of strategy and professional relations, and vice president of dry eye marketing, respectively.

■ The Vision Council released an update to members that Chinese-origin spectacle lenses, frames, sunglasses, reading glasses, eyeglasses, safety glasses, goggles and low vision devices will be subject to an additional 10% tariff starting Sept. 1 and Dec. 15.
