The service allows the provider to conduct both a low vision exam and a follow-up device assessment appointment virtually. The program consists of two kits, iDoktor diagnostic kit and iProdukt trial kit ,sent directly to the patient, to facilitate the appointment.

SHORT-TERM DED THERAPY
Kala Pharmaceuticals has announced that the FDA has approved EYSUVIS (loteprednol etabonate ophthalmic suspension) 0.25% for the short-term (up to two weeks) treatment of the signs and symptoms of dry eye disease. EYSUVIS utilizes Kala’s AMPPLIFY mucus-penetrating particle (MPP) drug delivery technology to enhance penetration of loteprednol etabonate (LE) into target tissue on the ocular surface. LE targets the immune responses that drive acute dry eye disease flares. Kala plans to launch the drug in the U.S. by year-end.

3D DIGITAL OPTICAL TOOL
Touchless Optical Platform (TOP), from Topology, is proprietary 3D digital technology, currently found on the iPad or iPhone, to scan patients in one’s practice as part of the pre-test exam, or remotely from their home, so optical staff can fit stock frames and take optical measurements. TOP provides access to only those frames in one’s digital stock catalogue that will fit the patient’s facial features. It adjusts all critical optical measurements to 1/100th of a millimeter.

VR AND VA TESTING
VisuALL VRP, from Olleyes, is a portable visual care testing platform, which currently includes visual field and visual acuity testing. It uses virtual reality and artificial intelligence to enable remote monitoring of common eye diseases. The company has partnered with Keeler Limited for U.S. distribution.
