TWO ORTHOKERATOLOGY CONTACT LENSES GARNERED THE FDA’S GREEN LIGHT:
ACUVUE ABILITI OVERNIGHT THERAPEUTIC LENSES
ACUVUE Abiliti Overnight Therapeutic Lenses, from Johnson & Johnson Vision (J&J), approved for myopia management, will be available in two options: Abiliti Overnight Therapeutic Lenses and Abiliti Overnight Therapeutic Lenses for Astigmatism.
The lenses have been created and fitted for the eye based on the eye’s “unique corneal shape,” the company says. Measurements, such as corneal topography, refractive error and others, are input to a fitting software to optimize the contact lens, J&J says. The fitting software provides a precise measurement of the corneal shape and guides the O.D. through the fitting process. The lenses are expected to be available in the U.S. by year’s end, the company says.
EUCLID MAX
EUCLID MAX, from EUCLID Systems, is approved for the temporary reduction of myopia, the company says. “Building on Euclid’s proprietary lens designs, Euclid MAX features an innovative material with a Hyper Dk of 180... without the compromise of lens stability. This is especially important with young healthy eyes in the closed eye environment,” says Euclid Systems’ CEO Joseph Boorady. “We are very proud and excited to introduce this combination of outstanding material characteristics and proven lens designs, which will help more patients successfully manage their myopia.” OM
