LIGHT-ADAPTIVE LENSES

HOYA Vision Care announced the next generation of its light-adaptive lenses. Sensity 2 lenses offer nearly twice the fadeback speed compared to the previous generation of Sensity lenses. Available in silver grey, bronze brown and emerald green, the lens rapidly darkens to a category 3 sun lens tint, offers 100% UV protection, reduced glare from the sun when activated and blue light protection indoors and outdoors, according to Hoya.

ULTRA-WIDEFIELD IMAGING

iCare USA received FDA 510 (k) approval for its EIDON Ultra-Widefield Lens. The lens captures 120˚ retinal images in one shot and features an expanded “Mosaic” function, allowing image capture of up to 200˚. The lens can be retrofitted to most existing EIDON fundus imaging systems, enabling capture of infrared, autofluorescence and fluorescein angiography images with an up to 200˚ view.

EYELID CLOSURE DEVICE

Ophthalmic Resources Partners’ SleepTite/SleepRite is a device that allows the eyelid to remain shut during sleep. The single-use product is designed to help patients who experience exposure problems at night, as well as exposure from partial blinking, as patients who experience this can be recalcitrant to dry eye disease treatments, the company says. The device features a latex-free design.

PORTABLE VIDEO MAGNIFIER

Eschenbach Optik of America, Inc. introduced its next generation Smartlux Digital, a portable video magnifier. The magnifier features a 5-inch reflection-free display; 14 color-contrast modes; a full HD camera; an integrated stand that allows for three different uses; and connectivity to an external screen using an HDMI cable to live stream images, or it can connect to a computer through a USB connection to transfer photos.

LID HYGIENE TREATMENT

TearRestore introduced HylaWipe, a lid hygiene wipe that contains an active cleanser, which is a mild concentration of tea tree oil, shown to treat blepharitis and hinder Demodex folliculorum growth. It also contains hyaluronic acid and green tea extract to soothe the skin.

EYELASH-ENHANCING GEL

MediNiche launched OcuLash Lash & Brow Gel, a non-prescription cosmetic gel for patients seeking healthier lashes and brows. OcuLash contains two fortifying peptides to help thicken lash hair follicles, according to MediNiche. Other ingredients include hyaluronic acid, green tea extract, vitamins A, B5, E, C and more. The gel is compatible with contact lenses and patients who have had visual correction surgery, the company says.

LOW VISION HEADSET

IrisVision launched a low vision headset and platform to assist low vision patients with activities of daily living. The wearable device is voice-controlled and internet-connected, featuring all-distance and autofocus functionality, the company says. It is tethered to the Samsung Galaxy smartphone that powers the software.

PRODUCT NOTES

 Digital Vision (DVI) and Neurolens collaborated to increase the prism field from 1/8th prism D to 1/100th prism D. The enhancement applies to all Neurolens designs and DVI platforms. It will help eye care providers address the increased prevalence of eye misalignment, while taking advantage of measurements from the Neurolens Measurement Device, Gen 2s.  

 

 Eaglet Eye announced the release of Prime, the latest Eye Surface Profiler (ESP) software, which now includes a dedicated module for fitting and tracking orthokeratology, allowing the practitioner to see and record the refractive changes induced. Included is an algorithm specifically designed for Paragon’s CRT lens.
