- A Centre for Ocular Research peer-reviewed paper seeks to shift persistent views about contact lenses that are no longer accurate based on current evidence. These myths and misconceptions include, among others: young children are less successful with contact lenses, and my contact lens business will not grow because as many patients as I fit end up dropping out. - The Contact Lens Institute expanded its The EASY Way (Eyes, Awareness, Safety and You) program to promote healthy contact lens wear and care habits. Specifically, new for 2022 is the webinar, “Making Contact Lens Compliance Stick: EASY Insights, Tips & Tools from Visionary Eye Care Pros,” which will be presented on Thursday, March 3, at both 6:30 p.m. EST and 6:30 p.m. PST. - EDGEPro and MaximEyes.com are integrating to provide eye care professionals with real-time practice analytics. Specifically, the integration enables doctors and staff to use an application programming interface that automatically pulls data from the practice management system into EDGEPro nightly, so it’s accessible when needed.
- Euclid Systems Corporation launched MyEuclid, an interactive, web-based customer portal created to aid in driving practice efficiency and optimizing Euclid Ortho-K fits. Fit flexibility, data-driven algorithms for precise curve selection and optic zone optimization, and expert order verification are among MyEuclid’s key features, the company says. A full launch of MyEuclid to U.S. customers is planned for this month.
- Nanodropper announced a partnership with Lumata Health, a tech-enabled company offering turnkey care management for chronic eye conditions. This new partnership includes a pilot program in which patients who enroll will receive a free Nanodropper Adaptor to test with their medication. Lumata will evaluate the use of the adaptor, and as the partnership evolves, clinics in the Lumate network will have the opportunity to distribute the adaptor.
- Reichert Technologies is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Phoroptor. The company was granted a registered trademark for the word Phoroptor by the U.S. Patent and Trademark office on January 10, 1922. - Signet Armorlite introduced KODAK Lens Smiles, a two-year program intended to increase practice revenues for independent eye care providers. - Vision Path, Inc., the online seller of Hubble contact lenses (hubblecontacts.com ), reached a $3.5 million settlement with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for violating the Contact Lens Rule and FTC Act.
- VisionWeb and Neurolens collaborated to allow providers to enter prism to the 1/100th prism diopter when ordering through VisionWeb’s platform. The increased specificity allows providers using the Neurolens Measurement Device to prescribe the precise prism measurements indicated by the device’s measuring abilities.
- The World Council of Optometry (WCO) and CooperVision partnered to launch “A Practical Guide to Managing Children with Myopia,” complementing the WCO’s Standard of Care for Myopia Management. The multi-author paper includes insights on the WCO Standard of Care and how providers can incorporate it into their clinical practice.
