- The Vision Council released a new report delving into consumer awareness, interest, and sentiment toward smart eyewear products. The report, “Focused inSights Smart Eyewear 2023,” found that more than a third of Americans intend to purchase tech eyewear within the year, with men ages 18 to 44, those in urban communities, and early adopters of technology especially likely to purchase. - Visioneering Technologies, Inc., presented the one-year interim retrospective data of its PROgressive Myopia Treatment Evaluation for NaturalVue Multifocal Contact Lens Trial, or PROTECT, randomized control trial at the American Academy of Optometry’s annual meeting. The data showed slowing of myopia progression, which confirms that the NaturalVue contact lens effectively manages eye growth and refractive error change among progressing myopic children. - Vitaris launched a national direct-to-consumer campaign for the dry eye nasal spray TYRVAYA (varenicline solution). The campaign, called “It’s Not Another Drop,” is directed to both consumers and eye care professionals, and aims to encourage patients to discuss the treatment with their eye care professional.
- Zeiss Medical Technology and Boehringer Ingelheim announced a long-term strategic collaboration to create predictive analytics to enable the early detection of eye diseases and more personalized treatments to prevent vision loss for people who have serious eye diseases, according to a press release. Specifically, the two entities will focus on identifying markers of early stages of retinal diseases by leveraging Zeiss Medical Technology’s cloud-connected devices and artificial intelligence-assisted analysis of massive image data sets.
