Because we provide comprehensive eye exams, patient education, treat eye disease, prescribe glasses and/or contact lenses, and comanage surgical patients, our marketing efforts can fall by the wayside, negatively affecting our businesses. The good news: Text-based narrow artificial intelligence (AI), such as Jasper AI, Copy.ai, and Writesonic, among others, can help by providing us with customized marketing strategies. Here’s how:
1. Define Your Practice
First, describe to the text-based narrow AI platform the practice service and or services you want to promote. For example, “My practice specializes in pediatrics,” or “My practice specializes in primary care optometry.”
2. Ask for a Plan
Second, ask (or tell) the AI platform to establish a comprehensive year-long marketing strategy. Using the above example, “I would like to have more pediatric patients come into my office. Establish a comprehensive year-long marketing strategy for me, so that I can accomplish that.”
This request will provide you with strategies broken down by month. As an example, under “January,” the action steps can include “Email blast & social media,” “website update,” and “Google My Business.”

3. Drill Down Further
Third, tell the AI platform to follow the action steps it has provided for you. Again, in using the example of pediatrics, “Create one different email for each of the 12 months that markets my optometric practice’s pediatric service, and make the length of the emails no more than 300 words.”
Other examples of drilling down requests to save time include requesting a marketing calendar, newsletters for each of the 12 months, social media posts, and more. A caveat: Be sure to carefully read each generated piece of marketing for accuracy.
4. Make It Pretty
Consider using graphic design programs, such as Adobe Express, Canva, and Desyner, among others, to make your marketing assets visually appealing. All you need to do is select your preferred design from options like “newsletter” or “social media post,” input an appropriate image (if needed) and a font, and voila!
Not Auto Pilot
Narrow AI platforms are only as good as their user, meaning that the information they provide is based on the information you request. As a result, be as specific as possible, and use your preferred platform on a regular basis. As is the case when search engines first became available, it may take a little time to find exactly what you’re looking for, but this time is negligible in comparison to creating something from whole cloth.
