Balance Ophthalmics glaucoma therapy receives denovo classification
Balance Ophthalmics announced that the FDA has granted De Novo classification of its FYSX Ocular Pressure Adjusting Pump. The pump is a non-pharmacological, non-surgical, during-sleep treatment designed to lower IOP in patients who have normal tension glaucoma and open-angle glaucoma with IOP ≤21 mm Hg.
Bausch + Lomb shares results from inaugural State of Dry Eye survey
Bausch + Lomb’s inaugural “State of Dry Eye” survey, which explores dry eye disease (DED) understanding and experiences among American adults, revealed the following highlights:
- DED impacts quality of life. Three in four sufferers say they find dry eye extremely or very bothersome, with three in 10 saying that their symptoms have worsened over time.
- DED makes it difficult to enjoy day-to-day activities. Most sufferers (67%) say they had to give up or cut back on something to relieve symptoms, including screen time (32%), spending time outdoors (25%), and wearing makeup (24%).
- DED is not widely known. Most Americans say they don’t know much about the condition, what to do about it or that their symptoms may be associated with DED. Additionally, most (70%) say they don’t know much about preventing or treating the condition.

Harrow entered into an agreement to make chloroprocaine hydrochloride ophthalmic gel 3% (Iheezo), moxifloxacin hydrochloride ophthalmic solution 0.5% (Vigamox), and nepafenac ophthalmic suspension 0.3% (Ilevro) available through the Apexus 340B Prime Vendor Program.
HOYA presents myopia data at EURETINA
HOYA Vision Care presented myopia data at the first EURETINA Special Focus Meeting, held in Paris, in June. “Confidence through evidence – MiYOSMART in daily practice,” presented by HOYA Vision Care, was a session to raise awareness among eye care practitioners on the importance of choosing appropriate myopia management solutions, supported by safety and effectiveness, and highlight MiYOSMART, a spectacle lens solution for myopia. International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness launches 2024 World Sight Day campaign
The International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) launched the World Sight Day campaign for World Sight Day, which occurs Oct. 10.
