Heidelberg Engineering has announced a collaboration with NetraMind Innovations, Inc. to integrate NMI-ChoroidAI into the Heidelberg AppWay marketplace, according to a press release. Specifically, the artificial intelligence (AI)-powered application provides automated, quantitative insights into choroidal health from routine optical coherence tomography (OCT) scans, though is not CE marked or cleared by the US Food and Drug Administration for use.

Developed by NetraMind Innovations, a company founded by retinal specialists and machine-learning engineers, NMI-ChoroidAI usesalgorithms to process Spectralisis OCT volume data. Additionaly, the software automatically segments inner and outer choroidal boundaries, analyzes choroidal vasculature, and generates comprehensive measurements of choroidal thickness, volume, and the Choroidal Vascularity Index (CVI), according to a press release. Results are presented in a Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study grid format, along with detailed tabulated reports.
Further, the assistive tool incorporates clinician oversight, cortical visual impairment heat mapping, and visualization.
Attendees of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) 2025 Annual Meeting in Orlando, Florida (October 18 to 20) will be able to see live demonstrations of NMI-ChoroidAI at the Heidelberg Engineering booth (#3149). OM
