Arkansas Law Creates Fair Reimbursement for Optometrists
Act 142, signed into law by Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, includes the following for the state’s doctors of optometry: coordination of benefits for patients to maximize coverage; no “batch” or “extrapolation” audits of participating providers; and no differing reimbursement amounts from vision benefit managers (VBM) based on providers’ choice of optical lab, health record software, or equipment. Optos Announces Large U.S. Reference Database for Imaging Devices
Optos announced that its reference database (RDB), exclusively available for its Monaco and MonacoPro combined ultra-widefield and spectral domain OCT devices will enhance the OD’s workflow, according to a press release. Specifically, the database is comprised of 879 eyes, aged 22-84 collected from 9 clinical sites, so the OD can assess retinal thickness, ganglion cell complex thickness, and optic nerve head (ONH) metrics.

Vision Council Research Shows Overall Satisfaction with
Managed Vision Care Plans
The Vision Council’s “Focused inSights 2025: Managed Vision Care,” report reveals, among other findings, that overall satisfaction increased across all plan types between 2023 and 2024, with individual plans experiencing the largest gain of 13 percentage points. The report, which also provides data on understanding plan benefits and provider acceptance of specific managed vision care plans, is in The Vision Council’s Research Download Center as a complimentary download for members, with a paid option for non-members.
