Alcon Gets US Food and Drug Administration Nod for Dry Eye Treatment
Alcon announced the US Food and Drug Administration approved Tryptyr (acoltremon ophthalmic solution) 0.003%, formerly known as AR-15512, for the treatment of the signs and symptoms of dry eye disease (DED). The intervention is a TRPM8 receptor agonist (neuromodulator) that stimulates corneal sensory nerves to rapidly increase natural tear production. It is available in single-dose vials: 1 drop per eye, 2 times a day. Alcon says it expects to launch Tryptyr in the United States in the third quarter of 2025.
Ocular Therapeutix Closing Enrollment in Trial for Wet Age-Related Macular Degeneration Treatment Candidate
Ocular Therapeutix, Inc. announced that enrollment in its SOL-R registrational trial of its product candidate Axpaxli for wet age-related macular degeneration closes this week. Axpaxli (also known as OTX-TKI) is an investigational, bioresorbable, intravitreal hydrogel incorporating axitinib, a small-molecule, multitarget, tyrosine kinase inhibitor with antiangiogenic properties.

OneSight EssilorLuxottica Hosts 5-Day Disaster Relief Vision Clinic for Los Angeles School Children Affected by Wildfires
The North American Affiliate of OneSight EssilorLuxottica hosted a 5-day disaster relief vision clinic for a total of 619 Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) students at Los Angeles’ Eagle Rock High School in mid May. The affiliate partnered with EyeMed, Oliver Peoples, and Target Optical to provide comprehensive eye exams and prescription glasses—at no cost. In addition to the students, the clinic also welcomed walk-in patients from the community to ensure the broadest possible reach for those in need.

Prevent Blindness Announces Annual Swing Fore Sight Golf Outing
Prevent Blindness announced that the 17th Annual Prevent Blindness Swing Fore Sight golf outing will occur Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the Bali Hai Golf Club, in Las Vegas, Nevada, in conjunction with Vision Expo West. Registration and breakfast begin at 6 am PT, with a shotgun start at 7 am PT. All proceeds from the event will go to support Prevent Blindness and its sight-saving programs. Prevent Blindness has once again declared June as Cataract Month. The goal of this initiative is to provide patients, care partners, and allied health professionals with free educational resources on cataract, including facts sheets, shareable social media graphics, a dedicated webpage, a Focus on Eye Health Expert video, and a listing of financial assistance resources in English and Spanish. Prevent Blindness offers the Focus on Eye Health Expert Series episode “Understanding Cataract,” the dedicated webpage, PreventBlindness.org/cataract-surgery, and the printable “Guide to Cataract Surgery.”
