In a new press release, Zeiss Vision Care described their global work to improve accessibility and affordability in eye care in celebration of World Sight Day on October 9. Here in the United States in July, Zeiss began providing free eyeglass lenses to individuals affected by the recent Texas floods. The initiative, developed in partnership with local eyecare professionals, aimed to assist residents who lost their eyewear and needed an immediate replacement to maintain their vision.
This effort followed their earlier support for communities that were impacted by the Los Angeles County wildfires, where the company collaborated with local eyecare professionals to deliver free lenses to those who had lost access to essential vision care. In addition, Zeiss contributed $100,000 to the American Red Cross to aid emergency relief efforts.
The company also supports programs in Brazil—where they donate intraocular lenses and loan advanced diagnostic and therapeutic laser equipment for eye surgeries—and India, where they collaborate with local organizations to organize eye screening for drivers.
