At Vision Expo in Orlando this week, Younger Optics announced the launch of LED Pro lenses, a patented ophthalmic lens technology engineered to selectively absorb the intense wavelengths that cause visual discomfort in white LED lighting. Made with high-index 1.67 MR‑10 material from Mitsui Chemicals, LED Pro lenses introduce a solution for patients affected by the prevalence of LED illumination in everyday life, the company said in a press release.
In addition, LED Pro lenses incorporate specialized selective‑absorption dyes that precisely target 450 nm and 550 nm intensity peaks, reducing discomfort without compromising optical clarity, the company said.
LED Pro lenses will be initially available to labs in semifinished single-vision high-index 1.67 MR‑10 (hard coated), with 8 base curves from 0.50 D to 7.00 D and an Rx range of –4.00 D to +8.00 D. High-index 1.60 MR‑8 will be available soon, according to the company. OM
